Surveillance footage caught the footage a would-be robber was shot and killed by an off-duty cop during a botched steal on the streets of Brazil.
The Military Police officer, whose name has not been revealed, appeared next to a car in the southern São Paulo neighborhood of Maria Helena Parque on Friday when the thief pulled up on a motorcycle.
Moment showed the thief aiming his .38 caliber gun at the cop, who fired at least 11 shots as the thief returned fire.
The stealing man is then seen falling off his motorcycle and dropping to the ground before removing his helmet and putting his hands in the air.
The officer approached the suspect and kicked his gun away.
The criminal was rushed by paramedics to Campo Limpo Hospital, where he died from the gunshot wounds, the São Paulo State Public Safety Department said.
The shooting was the latest in a string of robbery attempts in which thiefs have been killed in São Paulo and neighboring cities.
